Growing old disgracefully

I’ve decided I’m growing old disgracefully, my dear

It’s the only way to live, without caution, without fear

I’ll eat ice cream for breakfast and waffles for tea

I’ll slide down the bannister and run through the sea

I’ll laugh at the bullies and wear my skirts hitched high

Stretch my arms out and pretend I can fly

Each kiss is with passion, each moment a thrill

Life should be moving, never still

The little things that once plagued me, how insignificant they’ve become

I’ve learnt to live each day like it’s my last, until my final heart’s drum

But for now I beat on, so for today I live, I love, I laugh and I smile

And if I can help it, this beat is gonna keep drumming for a while
