The Last Kiss

With each sweet and gentle kiss, the light dimmed a little further. Smiles danced around me in silver pools of light, before crashing and melting together in a thick, metallic puddle. He was tall, towering above all of them, yet no one seemed to notice. There was a chill in the air, a sharp shiver that ran up my body, causing fiery prickles to rise. They pushed outwards, bursting from my skin like firecrackers, each strand of hair bolting upwards. I reached out, as the darkness loomed, circling around me in black, velvet blankets. His fingers were long and bony, but they felt smooth against my own. And as his soft, cold lips left mine for the last time, the shadows blended and I fell gladly into his hold.
